Demelan Cream is an effective pigment-reducing treatment that has the same clinical benefits of three active ingredients which include Alpha-arbutin, Kojic acid and Glycolic acid. However, there are two other ingredients in the cream which work with alpha-arbutin and kojic acid to reduce hyperpigmentation while glycolic acid exfoliates skin cells.
Demelan cream can be used for melasma, senile lentigines and other skin pigmentation conditions as it contains kojic acid, arbutin, and glycolic acid. By combining these agents, they decrease the levels of melanin in the skin thus reducing dark patches on the skin besides enhancing its texture.
This condition is known as melasma and causes brown patches to appear on the face especially around the nose, cheeks, chin or forehead. It occurs more commonly in women than men due to hormonal changes caused by pregnancy or certain contraceptive medications.
On most people it is safe and effective however this should be under your health care provider’s instructions. Do not use it for a longer period without a doctor’s order; avoid direct exposure to sun after application and ingestion of this ointment.
If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or breastfeeding make sure you tell your doctor before using Demelan cream. The doctor needs to know if there are any other topical products that you have been prescribed concurrently with Demelan cream.
How To Use Demelan Cream
Before using the Demelan Cream, first clean your face with a mild cleanser and then dry it. Normally, the cream should just be applied once in a day but thinly to the affected areas on in most cases during the night. Stay away from contact with eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes. You can reduce application frequency if there is any irritation or drying beyond normal levels; this can also be discontinued for some time. Sunscreen should always be used since Demelan Cream increases sun sensitivity during daytime. This may take few weeks according to your dermatologist’s guidance before you see visible results.
